Rain did not empty Mokpo Peace Plaza today. Every booth at the 2026 On-dongne Neulbom Festival sat under a tent, so a raincoat was all we needed.

Neulbom is Korea’s after-school care program, and this festival brought its activities outdoors. Six zones filled the plaza: cooking and baking, crafts, AI and digital, sports, science, and arts.
Kids collect six stamps: four from activities and two bonus stamps for watching the stage show. A full card earns a snack at booths 41 and 42.
Two activities we tried
Design your own mug
Children draw on paper with markers, and the drawing is pressed onto a ceramic mug. A row of mug presses ran nonstop behind the booth.
Laser target shooting
With safety goggles on, kids aim a laser pen at small robot targets. A hit lights the target red, and that moment got the biggest smile of the day.

The 22nd Southwest Region Youth Festival, “Youth Daero,” ran from 11:00 to 17:00 around the main stage of the same plaza. Younger kids can do the Neulbom booths while older siblings join the youth festival.

The youth stage kept going through the afternoon rain. A student band from Hadang Middle School opened with guitar and vocals, and the dance team “Excited” followed with a full group routine on the wet stage.
Practical tips
On a rainy day, a raincoat beats an umbrella. Kids need both hands for the activities.
Look at the booth map first and plan a route for all six stamps.
Activities that end with a finished item, like the mug, have a queue. Go early.

2. National Naju Museum
The children’s museum presents Mahan and the ancient tomb culture of the Yeongsan River area through learning materials and excavation activities. The first-floor immersive-content hall uses large screens across the walls and floor to tell stories about the Sinchon-ri tombs and artifacts.
Sessions begin every 30 minutes and accept 30 people. Advance booking is available, but visitors can register on site when seats remain. A useful route is to first see the real Naju Seoseongmun Stone Lantern and the Sinchon-ri gilt-bronze crown near the permanent exhibition entrance, then continue to the children’s museum and immersive hall.

Six senior candidates, five fifth-grade candidates, and one week of campaigning
The second-semester student council election campaign began at Mokpo Aehyang Elementary School on the morning of August 31. Six students ran for president or sixth-grade vice president, while five students entered the fifth-grade vice-president race. Campaigning would continue for one week before the Friday vote.

Promises presented in school, not only on posters
Candidates greeted classmates at the central entrance and in hallways with handmade signs and sashes. Sixth-grade candidates were scheduled to present their pledges on the morning broadcast on September 1, followed by fifth-grade candidates on September 2. The broadcasts gave voters a chance to consider whether a promise was realistic rather than choosing by popularity alone.

One day with fourth graders: turning heritage into useful objects
At the Naju Creative Convergence Education Center invention classroom, fourth-grade students from across Jeonnam spent one day transforming regional heritage into products people could use. They modeled in Tinkercad, built a metaverse exhibition in CoSpaces, and created sales pages in Canva.
The opening rule was simple: do not make a replica. Make an invention. A roof curve from Jinnamgwan became a smartphone stand, a turtle ship shell became a business-card holder, and Goryeo celadon became a refrigerator magnet.

The class began with a map linking Mokpo Modern History Museum and Gatbawi, Yeosu Jinnamgwan, Suncheon Naganeupseong, Naju Geumseonggwan, Gangjin celadon, and the Jindo dog. Students chose a cultural feature, simplified its shape, and added a practical function.

Three tools, one complete project
Tinkercad: Students combined basic shapes and designed functional details such as key-ring holes and phone grooves. Because the objects would be 3D printed, we discussed a 0.5 mm clearance and the 45-degree rule.
CoSpaces: Using Jeonnam’s student accounts, they arranged their products in a metaverse exhibition.
Canva: They added a slogan, price, and persuasive explanation to create a simple sales page.

Fourth graders who kept revising
I have taught invention-gifted classes in Mokpo for three years, but this group’s persistence stood out. When a model did not work, students revised it, asked friends, and continued during breaks. Their behavior reflected Renzulli’s three-ring model: above-average ability, creativity, and task commitment.

Five sessions, one regional problem, and a one-page solution
On Sunday, August 23, I led sessions 3 to 5 of a five-session AIEDAP Honam master-teacher workshop. The practical goal was clear: find a local issue in public data, turn a vague concern into a question that numbers can test, and present the result on one Canva page.
This workshop grew from the regional AI convergence education material that our elementary, middle, and high school writing team developed this year. Unlike a course built around a finished script, I had to design the lesson flow and activities myself. That freedom was useful, but it also made preparation more demanding.

How the five sessions were structured
Sessions 1-2: Teacher Choi Ju-young of Muan Hyeongyeong Middle School introduced a data-inquiry framework that moves from an observed phenomenon to a problem definition and a testable hypothesis.
Session 3: The three writers shared how generative AI supported the development process. Participants used Padlet to share their strengths and workshop goals.
Session 4: Teachers searched the Public Data Portal and KOSIS, refining everyday impressions into questions that could be checked with regional data.
Session 5: Each team defined a regional problem, selected key figures, visualized them, and built a one-page solution pitch in Canva.

Why we changed the order
The hardest part was not drawing a chart. It was finding data that could actually answer the first question. Our writing team had struggled with the same issue. For the final activity, we therefore used backward design: participants examined available data first, then identified the problem and question that the data could support.

The teachers stayed focused through the full five-session program and produced ideas worth preserving. The day before the new semester began, the workshop was also a reminder that good AI education starts with a real question, reliable evidence, and a task that teachers can take back to their classrooms.

3차시: 집필진의 교재 개발 과정과 생성형 AI 활용 경험을 나누고 패들렛으로 각자의 강점과 목표를 공유했습니다.
4차시: 공공데이터포털과 KOSIS에서 지역 데이터를 찾아 막연한 생각을 검증 가능한 질문으로 다듬었습니다.
5차시: 지역 문제를 정의하고 핵심 수치를 시각화해 캔바 1페이지 솔루션 피치를 완성했습니다.
데이터를 먼저 보고 문제를 찾았습니다
가장 어려운 일은 그래프를 그리는 것이 아니라 처음 세운 질문에 맞는 데이터를 찾는 일이었습니다. 집필진도 같은 어려움을 겪었기에 마지막 실습에는 백워드 설계를 적용했습니다. 먼저 사용할 수 있는 데이터를 살펴보고, 그 데이터로 설명할 수 있는 문제와 질문을 찾는 방식입니다.
5차시 동안 높은 집중도로 참여하고 결과물을 완성해 주신 선생님들께 감사드립니다. 좋은 AI 교육은 도구보다 실제 문제, 믿을 수 있는 데이터, 교실로 가져갈 수 있는 과제에서 시작된다는 점을 다시 확인한 시간이었습니다.

The 2027 civil-service raise is 3.9 percent, and it applies to base pay only. The January and July seniority allowance is 50 percent of that month’s base pay, and the holiday bonus is 60 percent, so those two move with the base. Flat allowances do not move. On my 10-plus-year calculation, 2027 pretax pay is about 69.3 million won. That is about 168,000 won more per month than 2026. Multiplying the whole paycheck by 3.9 percent is the wrong sum.
The headline follows 3.0 percent in 2025 and 3.5 percent in 2026. It is the largest raise in 16 years, according to the budget report. I am past year 10 and do both department work and teaching, so I split what rises from what stays flat.
Base pay: plus 3.5 percent in 2026, plus 3.9 percent in 2027
Seniority allowance in January and July: 50 percent of that month’s base, so it rises
Holiday bonus at Lunar New Year and Chuseok: 60 percent of that month’s base, so it rises
Teaching allowance, flat meal allowance, research allowance, and the flat seniority add-on: frozen
Starting from about 65.5 million won pretax in 2025, base about 45.7 million:
2026, plus 3.5 percent: base about 47.3 million, pretax about 67.28 million, about 1.76 million more
2027, plus 3.9 percent: base about 49.15 million, pretax about 69.3 million, about 2.02 million more than 2026
That leaves out the yearly step increase. Even so, 2027 sits just under 70 million won pretax.
Per month, 2026 is about 146,000 won above 2025. 2027 adds about 168,000 won on top of 2026. Over two years, that is about 314,000 won a month above 2025. Ordinary months (February, April, June, August, October, November) add about 130,000 to 140,000 won. January, July, and September, when base-linked allowances pay out, differ by 210,000 to 230,000 won or more.
The March performance bonus is the variable. An S grade in 2027 would pay about 800,000 to 900,000 won more than an A grade. Pretax would be about 70.17 million won, and the monthly rise versus 2026 would be about 240,000 won.
Crossing 70 million won does not move the tax bracket from 15 percent to 24 percent. Income tax uses taxable income, not total pay. After the earned-income deduction (about 12.8 million won), the full pension contribution deduction, health insurance, and personal deductions, taxable income stays in the low-to-mid 40 millions. The 24 percent band starts above 50 million won of taxable income.
Counting only the allowances tied to base pay gives a smaller number than 3.9 percent of the whole check. It is closer to what actually hits the account. A step increase on top of this would add a bit more.

2027년 공무원 보수 인상은 3.9%이고, 붙는 곳은 본봉뿐입니다. 정근수당은 그달 본봉의 50%, 명절휴가비는 60%라 본봉을 따라 오릅니다. 정액 수당은 그대로입니다. 10여 년 차 기준으로 계산하면 2027년 세전 총액은 약 6,930만 원이고, 2026년보다 월평균 약 16만 8천 원 늘어납니다. 전체 급여에 3.9%를 곱하면 틀립니다.
2025년 3.0%, 2026년 3.5% 다음이고, 보도에는 16년 만에 가장 큰 폭이라고 나옵니다. 교단에 선 지 10여 년이 넘었고 부장 업무와 수업을 같이 맡고 있어서, 오르는 항목과 그대로인 항목을 나눠 봤습니다.

2027년(+3.9%): 본봉 약 4,915만 원, 세전 약 6,930만 원, 전년보다 약 +202만 원
호봉 승급분은 빼었습니다. 그래도 2027년 세전은 7,000만 원 바로 아래입니다.
월로 나누면 2026년은 2025년보다 약 14만 6천 원, 2027년은 2026년보다 약 16만 8천 원입니다. 2년 누적은 2025년 대비 월평균 약 31만 4천 원입니다. 평달(2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11월)은 월 13만~14만 원입니다. 본봉 연동 수당이 나오는 1월, 7월, 9월은 21만~23만 원 이상 차이 납니다.
3월 성과상여금이 변수입니다. 2027년 S등급이면 A등급보다 약 80만~90만 원이 더 나오고, 세전은 약 7,017만 원입니다. 그때 월평균 상승은 올해 대비 약 24만 원입니다.
7,000만 원대가 된다고 세율이 15%에서 24%로 바뀌지는 않습니다. 소득세는 총급여가 아니라 과세표준에 매깁니다. 근로소득공제 약 1,280만 원, 공무원연금 기여금, 건강보험료, 인적공제를 빼면 과세표준은 4,000만 원대 초중반입니다. 24%는 과세표준 5,000만 원 초과부터입니다.
본봉에 묶인 수당만 계산하니, 3.9%를 통째로 곱한 값보다 작습니다. 통장에는 이쪽이 더 가깝습니다. 해마다 오르는 1호봉까지 더하면 체감은 조금 더 나아집니다.
The fanless MacBook Air M2 froze about once every two or three days once I ran coding and video editing together. I also had to send a school broadcast through OBS the next month, so I switched to a 2022 MacBook Pro M2 that still has a fan. A media-center officer I know was selling one he barely used.
The Air was fine for documents. Coding with several apps in the background, plus video playback or GoPro edits, is when the freezes started. I had not seen that on an older MacBook. The fanless body seemed to build heat and throttle under load. A long OBS stream needs a machine that stays up, so the Air was the wrong tool for that job.
Same M2 chip, different body:
Display: Air M2 is 13.6 inches with a notch and a larger-feeling screen. Pro M2 is 13.3 inches, thicker bezel, no notch. The Air is a bit wider. The Pro is a full rectangle, which is cleaner for full-screen video.
Keys: the Air feels shallow. The Pro is firmer and less tiring for long typing.
Hinge: the Air opens lightly and shifts a little when you change the angle. The Pro hinge is heavier and stays put.
Speakers: the Pro has more bass and space.
Touch Bar: this is the last generation that still has one.
Migration Assistant moved the Air setup to the Pro over a cable or wireless link. Apps and the working setup came across.
In Korea, the Fair Trade Commission consumer-dispute standard sets a two-year warranty on a laptop mainboard. Official service treats a MacBook mainboard fault as free repair for those two years. The previous owner bought this one in July 2026, so mainboard coverage runs to July 2028. Impact and liquid damage are outside that.
If you want a light machine and a wider screen, keep the Air. I needed background multitasking, long renders, a live OBS feed, a fan, and a keyboard I can type on for hours. For that, the Pro M2 fit.

팬 없는 맥북에어 M2에서 코딩과 영상 편집을 같이 두자 2~3일에 한 번 화면이 멈췄습니다. 다음 달 OBS로 학교 방송을 송출해야 해서, 팬 있는 맥북프로 M2(2022)로 바꿨습니다. 거의 안 쓴 기기를 정보원 미디어센터 주무관이 내놓아서 그걸로 기변했습니다.
에어는 문서만 할 때는 충분했습니다. 코딩을 하면서 프로그램을 여러 개 띄우고, 영상을 틀거나 고프로 영상을 편집하면 예전 맥북에서는 없던 프리징이 왔습니다. 팬이 없어 열이 쌓이고 고부하에서 쓰로틀링이 걸리는 것 같았습니다. 오래 송출해야 하는 OBS에는 팬리스 에어가 부담이었습니다.
칩은 둘 다 M2입니다. 본체가 다릅니다.
화면: 에어 M2는 13.6인치, 노치가 있어 화면이 더 넓어 보입니다. 프로 M2는 13.3인치, 베젤이 두껍고 노치가 없습니다. 영상 전체화면은 직사각형인 프로가 덜 거슬립니다.
키감: 에어는 얕습니다. 프로는 더 쫀득하고, 오래 타이핑할 때 손이 덜 피곤합니다.
힌지: 에어는 가볍게 열리고 각도를 바꿀 때 살짝 흔들립니다. 프로는 힌지가 묵직합니다.
스피커: 프로가 저음과 공간감이 한 단계 위입니다.
터치바: 지금 라인업에서는 사라진, 터치바가 있던 마지막 세대입니다.
에어에서 프로로 마이그레이션 지원을 돌렸습니다. 케이블이나 무선으로 설정, 앱, 작업 환경이 넘어갑니다.
공정거래위원회 소비자분쟁해결기준에서 노트북 메인보드 품질보증기간은 2년입니다. 국내 공식 서비스센터는 맥북 메인보드 불량을 그 기간 무상 수리합니다. 전 주인이 2026년 7월에 산 기기라 메인보드 보증은 2028년 7월까지입니다. 외부 충격과 침수는 빠집니다.
가볍고 화면이 넓은 노트북이 필요하면 에어가 맞습니다. 저는 백그라운드 작업, 긴 렌더, OBS 송출, 팬, 오래 칠 수 있는 키보드가 필요해서 프로 M2로 갔습니다. 다음 달 학교 방송부터 이 기기를 메인으로 씁니다.

One day in Jangheung, three museums, 8,000 won in admission. Order: Water Science Museum, Tamjin Galbi for lunch, Children’s Science Museum, Astronomical Science Museum. Show the first receipt and the next site is 50 percent off. These prices are what we paid that day.
Water Science Museum: adult 3,000 won, elementary (Jiwoo) 1,000 won, preschool (Seungpyo) free. Open 09:00 to 18:00, closed Monday. We missed the 11:00 4D show because we arrived at 11:10. Staff said we could come back after lunch and re-enter the 4D theater at no extra charge. Carp feeding was not a regular program. A staff member came up to the second-floor playroom and offered it. The kids went into the clear dome under the tank and fed the carp.
Lunch was Tamjin Galbi, 5 Mullebang-atgan-gil, Jangheung-eup. The kitchen grills the pork ribs and brings them out on a stone plate. There is an indoor playroom and old arcade machines.
Children’s Science Museum sits inside Pyebaek Forest Woodland. With the Water Science Museum receipt, 50 percent off, 2,000 won for us. Same hours, closed Monday. The first floor has interactive sand, a water pump the child works, cypress cubes, and a wall where you feed animals fruit. The second floor is a camping zone and a hut where you lie down and watch stars on the ceiling.
Astronomical Science Museum is about 10 minutes away on Eokbulsan. Summer hours 14:00 to 22:00, closed Monday. The children’s museum ticket was not a direct link, but they counted the morning Water Science Museum visit and gave the 50 percent rate. We watched the dome film Astro Boy. Clouds blocked sunspot viewing. A guide explained the telescopes, and we looked at a distant ridge through a high-power scope. The road up mixes a narrow forest track and unpaved sections. Model 3 FSD, supervised, drove that stretch to the parking lot.
Keep the first receipt. That is the 50 percent discount at the next site.
